About us: an independent guide to day trips from Naples

tours.naples.it is an independent editorial project for anyone using Naples as a base: day trips to Pompeii, Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast and the islands, tours in the city, museum tickets and the transport to get you there. We answer a single question, with numbers: do it yourself or take an organised tour?

What we do

For each destination we line up the cost of the train or the ferry, the official ticket and the time it takes, and compare them with the price of the tours. The verdict changes from place to place: for Pompeii and Herculaneum the Circumvesuviana wins, for the Amalfi Coast the minivan wins, for the Blue Grotto the sea decides. What we are not

We are not the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, the Vesuvius National Park, the MANN, the Sansevero Chapel, the Royal Palace of Caserta or any other museum. We are not Caremar, SNAV, NLG, Alilauro, EAV or ANM. We are not a tour operator and we do not issue tickets: every booking takes place on the website of the platform or the operator, under its terms. If you have a problem with a booking, the party to contact is whoever sold you the ticket.

How we check prices

Tour prices come from the partner feeds, updated automatically; the date of the last update is shown on every page. Official prices and opening times we open by hand on the operators’ websites as we write and cite them with the source, for example “according to the official site (pompeiisites.org)”. When a figure cannot be verified we say so, instead of making it up. If you find an out-of-date figure, let us know: we will correct it.

Who we work with

GetYourGuide is our main partner. Tiqets and Headout are secondary partners, used where GetYourGuide has no suitable product (for example Paestum, some tickets for Herculaneum and the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Campania Express). If you book through one of our links we may receive a commission from the platform; the price for you is identical. No operator pays to appear on our pages and no ranking is sponsored: the comparisons show the products we track, with price, rating and number of reviews exactly as they arrive from the feed.

Platforms with which we have no agreement (Viator, Civitatis, Musement, Klook) are described but not linked.

Nine languages

The site exists in Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese. The Italian version is the reference: the others are localised from it, with the same prices and the same sources.
