Tour operators and booking platforms in Naples are three different things that often get confused: who sells (the platform), who delivers (the local operator) and who manages the place (the park, the museum, the ferry company). The same guided Pompeii tour can appear on GetYourGuide at €45.50, on Tiqets at €49.50 and on the operator’s own website at a third price, while the bare ticket is sold by the park at €20. This page explains who is who, using data from the 144 products we track, prices checked regularly.

The three partner platforms of this site

We work with three marketplaces. None of the three runs tours of its own: they list products from local operators, take the payment, issue the voucher and handle cancellations and customer support. If you book through one of our links we may receive a commission; the price you pay is the same as on the platform’s own website.

GetYourGuide

It’s our main partner and the first catalogue we consult. Tiqets

It started out as a ticket office for museums and attractions, and in Naples it’s useful where GetYourGuide doesn’t reach: the skip-the-line ticket for Paestum with a tour (€39.50), entry to Herculaneum (€19.50), the MAV in Herculaneum (€6), the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, the Ipogeo dei Cristallini. Across the 47 products we track, every order has instant confirmation and a smartphone ticket; 29 products can be cancelled, normally up to 24 hours before, 18 cannot. Live guides are almost always in Italian and English; audio guides run to 10 languages at some sites.

Headout

We use it for a few targeted products: the Royal Palace of Naples plus Villa Pignatelli combination (€19), Campania Express tickets (€15 each way, when the service is running), skip-the-line tickets for the Royal Palace of Caserta (€20, with audio guide €29.90) and a boat tour of Procida. Eight products in all; three accept cancellation within 24 hours, five don’t.

The other platforms you’ll come across while searching

We have no agreements with these, so we don’t link to them, but you’re bound to run into them. The logic is the same: marketplaces for third-party operators.

• Viator: belongs to the Tripadvisor group; a very wide catalogue, often the same operators as GetYourGuide under different titles.
• Civitatis: Spanish, strong on Spanish-language tours and on tip-based free tours; in Naples it has a solid catalogue for Spanish-speaking visitors.
• Musement: Italian by birth, now part of the TUI group; a long-standing presence in Italian museums and some official ticket offices.
• Klook: founded in Hong Kong, aimed at Asian travellers; in Naples it mainly resells tickets and transfers.

The price of the same product varies between platforms by a few euros, up or down, because each operator sets price lists and promotions per channel. When one offer is much lower than the others, check that it really includes the entry ticket.

Who actually delivers the service: the local operators

Behind every listing there’s a company from Naples or its province. Knowing the categories helps you read the listings and understand who is responsible if something goes wrong.

Transport companies don’t sell tours: they sell journeys. A “ferry to Capri” on a platform is a Caremar, SNAV or NLG ticket resold with a small margin (€26.67 on GetYourGuide against €21.50 for the Caremar fast ferry). Timetables and departures in the guide to transport in Naples.

The official channels: where the ticket costs the full price and nothing more

Every site has a single official ticket office. Buying there means paying the operator’s price, with no guide and no extra services, but also with no middlemen.

Some state museums outsource online ticketing to concessionaires such as CoopCulture: if the museum’s website sends you to coopculture.it, that’s normal. Be wary, on the other hand, of websites that imitate the park’s design and sell “official tickets” at a mark-up: the Vesuvius Park says so explicitly, and Pompeii introduced the named ticket partly for this reason.

The guide’s languages matter more than the website’s: a Pompeii tour “in Italian and English” splits the group in two or alternates the explanations. If you want a guide in your own language only, look for it in the listing or go direct to a local operator.

The most crowded group is the guided Pompeii tours from Naples. Four products, two platforms, prices from €45.50 to €52.50: the difference lies in whether transport is included, in the duration and in the group size.

In detail: the 1-day guided trip with priority entry from Naples (€45.50) lets you choose the group size; the guided tour with skip-the-line and transfer (€48.75) and the tour with ticket, guide and transfer included (€52.50) leave from Naples with transport included; on Tiqets the guided tour with an archaeologist (€49.50) meets at Pompeii and provides headsets, so you take the train on your own. When each channel is the right choice

• Official channel: when all you need is the entry and you already know what to see. Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sansevero and Caserta are easy to buy direct, and for Sansevero and Vesuvius it’s the only way.
• Platform: when you want a guide, transport or a combination in a single purchase, with cancellation and customer support in your language. For the Amalfi Coast and for Pompeii plus Vesuvius the platform is almost always the right channel; see the day trips from Naples.
• Local operator direct: when you’re after a private tour, a group in one language only or a date that shows as sold out on the platforms. The price may be lower, but cancellation and payment follow the operator’s rules.

If something goes wrong

Your contract is with whoever sold you the ticket. Tour cancelled for bad weather, missed meeting point, voucher not accepted: write to the platform from the app or the order page, not to the park and not to us. The platforms refund automatically when it’s the operator who cancels; if you pull out, the terms on the listing apply. For ferries, the refund follows the company’s conditions (Caremar, SNAV, NLG, Alilauro), even if you bought through a reseller.

For the official sites the rules are stricter: the Sansevero Chapel states that online tickets are neither refundable nor changeable; Pompeii issues named tickets valid only for the chosen date.
